The brass straight stream tip is etched with a number 17. There are no other markings. This nozzle is a classic style that is still highly effective today especially for post-fire containment usage by forest fire fighting crews. This exact same style is still manufactured to this day for its functionality.
The Forester Fog-Stream fire hose nozzle is designed specifically to meet. Service requirements for maximum efficiency of water pattern. The nozzle is from my personal collection of nozzles and was last used in a forest fire mop-up operation in Western. Since then, the nozzle has been sitting on a shelf with other collectible nozzles.
From my summers on a forest fire fighting crew, this item was the most practical and functional nozzle for mop-up operations. Overall, the nozzle is in good cosmetic condition. This heavy duty nozzle was used in the field on countless. Forest fires yet still retains cosmetic integrity and functionality as intended.
Mechanically, the nozzle is in excellent condition. The three position valve still slides easily in all three positions; shut-off, fog, straight steam. A tribute to the craftsmanship of this item some 70 years ago. The nozzle still has its original three washers (see images) and I would expect, if the nozzle was attached to a hose and pressured water it would still function as intended although I do not know if the washers would maintain water tightness integrity after nearly a half century of non-use.The item has not been cleaned nor has the brass been polished and therefore, the original patina is intact. Weight of nozzle with fittings: 2 pounds 4 1/4 ounces. Size of nozzle: 7 inches in length x 3 1/2" at its widest with 1 1/2" female fitting end.
